Sitecore Symposium 2019 Recap

Hello Everyone, This year the Sitecore Symposium was once again in Orlando, and as always, a lot of news and updates were shared with the public.

DAY1

The first keynote was from Mark Frost, Sitecore, Chief Executive Officer  and he brought some topics like

  • Sitecore IA(Artificial intelligence),
  • Sitecore Hub.

Sitecore IA, seems a very interesting topic, and I ended up choosing some lectures on this topic.

The second keynote was from Paige ONeill, CMO Sitecore among other clients, and the topic was

  • Human connections in a digital world

After that, we had  Mick Ebeling, CEO of “Not Impossible Labs, showcasing the new website with implementations Accessibility

The next session was with Platon, World-Renowned, award-winning photographer that brought the topic of

  • Empathy 

The first session that i was able to attend was from Pieter Brinkman , “What’s new in Sitecore land? and put some light on the following topics

  • New Sitecore Installation process: Basically works like a Wizard, includes solr installation, and SXA module
  • New Sitecore Trainings
  • Horizon will be available on Sitecore 9.3
  • Auto Personalization

Another session that I attended was “Managing technical debt while implementing Helix principles” that discussed issues faced day by day by developers face during the projects

DAY 2

The first keynote was from “Lowe’s Canada”: Our journey of helping customers love where they live and they showcase the new website, and which this, it increased 40 percent in mobile revenue.

The second keynote was from “Dr. Rana el Kaliouby” , a Pioneer in Human Perception AI and presented and discussed

  • Human Connection with IA
  • Reading Emotions by software

We also had a quick presentation from Sitecore MVP Rodrigo Peplau, he sang for the crowd, a good way to wake everybody !.

Sessions :

  • Sitecore IA : Making 1:1 – Personalization a reality: There was a good Demonstration of Auto Personalization  , Improvement and Measurement on the engagement reports , like (user behavior in general, page views, etc)
  • What makes you trust me: “Perspectives on trust in an age of privacy and digital caution”), talked about how to collect personal data, build trust, compliance, privacy policies, legal challenges, It was a very productive discussion with 5 different perspectives, from product owner to legal advisor.
  • Get off my lawn!”A Sitecore developer stands his ground amidst all the front-end arm-flexing” : It was a deep presentation with codes betweena  journey of learning between devs and frond end teams changing roles, and breaking boundaries

Day 3

Keynote : The magic of winning , Magic Johnson , Basketball Hall of Famer, Olympic gold medalist, and entrepreneur

He talked about how to win, and gave some advice

I wrote some good advices like

  • Be committee and have a passion to work
  • Prepare to compete, over delivery
  • Keep the Mindset of victory

After the exciting presentation, we got back to the sessions!

  • Sitecore IA, First Look
  • Using Sitecore Content Hub to take control of your digital asset lifecycle : Great demonstration of the new features of content-hub like, AutoTag, Image Analysis, Search with natural language

On the Closing remarks , the subject about Sitecore IA, come again, and also Content Hub , but this time, showed to all the public.

It also announced some new features like:

    • New Content Marketing Platform

 

  • XP & Content Hub
  • Headless Forms
